1st PARATY IN FOCUS - INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY
In June 2004, on a business trip to Brazil, the Italian Giancarlo Mecarelli visits Paraty. Enchanted by the historic center and the beauty that surrounds it (islands and paradisiacal beaches), and with the idea of opening a gallery and holding a photo event in the city, Mecarelli then
decides to leave Italy where he lived 22 years ago. In January 2005, he settled in the Historic Center, where he opened the ZOOM Photo Gallery and created The Paraty in Focus - International Photography Festival. The event began in a discreet manner: the first edition of the Festival had five lectures, an exhibition at Santa Rita Church with 30 images of Itae's young students and an auction with works donated by photographers.
The meeting brought together about 80 people and brought guests such as Cristiano Mascaro and Thomaz Farkas.
PROGRAMMING
Lectures with Cia de Foto, Marcio Scavone, Luiz Garrido, Thelma Villas Boas and Cristiano Mascaro.
Exhibition with photos of the 1st work done with the young people of ITAE (Institute of Art and Education) - Theme: Quotidiano Santa Rita Church
Exhibition La Donna è Mobile, by Giancarlo Mecarelli
Auction of works donated by invited photographers, with income fully reverted to the Itae project.
